Fine artist and chief designer of FEIN, American made Jennifer Fein attended both the Studio Art Centers International in Florence, Italy and The School of The Art Institute of Chicago; Receiving not only her BFA in fashion design, but a myriad of awards and honors including Fishman’s Fabric Award for innovative use of materials. Fein’s undergraduate collection was also published in New York ‘s Women’s Wear Daily Newspaper. By landing a coveted internship with designer Helmut Lang while still attending school, Fein was catapulted into the New York fashion and design scene. It was here that Fein perfected her skill and admiration of detail; sorting through boxes and boxes of 14 seasons past of clothing, accessories, and inspiration. Shortly thereafter, Fein further familiarized herself with the fashion industry while cutting patterns and fabric for samples with design duo Proenza Schouler. Fein went on to become a design associate for Club Monaco, directly after graduating. While specifying in knitwear, woven shirts and dresses, Fein was confronted with the harsh differences between commercial wear and her personal views of design and how it is represented on the body. After three years at Club Monaco, Fein resigned in order to re-focus her talent as a designer and fine artist.
